Noixia Makes Getting Spa-Like Results with At-Home Acne Treatments Free & Easy

(PRWeb) February 16, 2007 -- A year ago, San Diego based skin research firm Noixia grabbled with a central problem that made successfully treating severe acne difficult. According to Noixia president, Nicole Dial, the driving question was, "How do we help people who lack access to the deep cleansing machines used in high-end spas get a penetrating facial cleansing at home?"

Persons experiencing severe acne have skin characterized by deep blackheads, congested skin, multiple bumps and waste-impacted pores that require a profound cleansing regime to help purify the skin. At spas, relieving acne conditions involves thoroughly cleansing the skin with steam and then manually extracting debris from the pores with the appropriate tools.

But, as Dial pointed out, "In a spa setting, transforming severely congested acne-prone skin into clear, healthy skin requires a series of professional grade facials spaced two to three days apart, performed over a period of one to two months."

The problem is that getting such high quality skin care could cost acne sufferers from $100 to $250 per week.

Dial recalls that developing a way to help acne sufferers get the serious skin purification they would get at spas in their own home involved much trial and error.

She explains, "While there are at-home facial steamers and blackhead strips, these tools do not provide the deep level of cleansing the skin needs to completely purge itself of wastes and congestion. And more importantly, these tools do not trigger the increase in blood flow that comes from the external application of heat which further helps free the skin of toxins."

Dial observes that, "Steaming is one of the healthiest things you can do to release toxins from the skin." Now to help consumers get spa-like results at home when treating severe acne, Dial suggests using a washcloth for facial steaming and describes the process in the simple steps below:

1. Cleanse the face with a mild soap and water.

2. Wet a clean washcloth. Squeeze out the washcloth enough so that it is not dripping with water. Place the washcloth in the microwave for 30-45 seconds. Allow the cloth to cool for 10 seconds, or more if needed, to ensure that the cloth does not scorch the skin.

3. Cover the entire face with the steaming washcloth for 45 seconds. Hold the cloth close to the face and gently rub the washcloth over the face.

4. For extra congested skin, repeat steps 2-3 three more times in one session. Place the steaming cloth directly on seriously congested skin areas such as the upper cheek area and end of the nose.

Since most people already have a microwave and washcloth at home, Dial comments, "This easy and virtually free skin treatment is ideal for anyone with congested skin and particularly blackheads because the steam at-once opens the pores and helps melt the waxy sebum [oil that gets trapped in the pores."

Another reason Noixia wanted to help people find better ways to deeply cleanse their skin is because improper removal of skin waste, such as impacted acne lesions, is the number one cause of acne scarring.

Noixia hopes that this at-home skin care tip helps more people to intelligently, safely and affordably enhance their image and significantly reduce the number of acne scars people experience.

Dial adds that the first people to try the new approach were leery of the idea because washcloths are notorious bacterial breeding grounds. But this past December researchers from the University of Florida discovered that placing items like sponges in the microwave for just two minutes can destroy most common household bacteria. So consumers can feel confident using Noixia's novel facial cleansing technique.
