Publishers and Editors Get Free Rate Card/Subscription Listing and "Newspapers for Soldiers" Listing

Missoula, MT (PRWEB) September 22, 2007 -- Press Release International is a press release service specializing in general interest filler material aimed at the readers of small to middle size newspapers. They are currently offering free listings for newspaper and online news services in a state by state reference guide. Plus, free listings for a "Newspapers for Soldiers Guide" in which papers who wish to provide discounted subscriptions to U.S. service men and women can publish subscription information.

Press Release International provides free email press releases to news media. Releases are pre-screened, and the release topic is clearly expressed in the subject line, so only emails of interest need be opened.

Publishers and editors who agree to receive Press Releases can list their information in the state-by-state, city-by-city guide.

Editor and Founder Dave Curran, a 1978 UW-Oshkosh journalism graduate, who worked as a reporter before founding and running his own specialized newspaper for many years, says, "I always had need of good filler material that would be of interest to my readers. I still remember the first time I went and did a 'farm' interview that was supposed to fill an entire page and the family was so shy they could barely talk to me. We had to use a lot of big photos. Press Release International will provide a library of material that editors can fall back on."

According to Curran, they are a pre-editing service. They filter releases customers pay them to distribute, to weed out material that would not be of general interest to a general audience, and to make sure they contain the information editors need.

Says Curran, "I wouldn't have been able to start my own newspaper if I hadn't also been good at advertising sales. I know it sounds like boasting, but I was the top salesman at a paper taken over by Gannet just before I left to start my own paper. The reason I was a top salesman was that I always made sure the advertising I sold my customers made money for them. The listings offered by Press Release International might not bring in big bucks but it's free and if it brings in even a customer or two a year that's profit. And the press releases can actually save money. So I think this is a good deal all around."

The "Newspapers for Soldiers Guide" comes with no strings attached, says Curran. Any paper that offers discounts to our troops can list.
