International Soccer Exchange Programs Help Students Meet on Common Ground
Oakville, Ontario (PRWEB) November 19, 2007 -- For years, students have been going overseas in academic foreign exchange programs. Though these exchange programs have provided them with the opportunity to learn more about other cultures, barriers still remain.
International sports exchange programs aim at bridging those barriers by bringing students together with a common bond: the love of soccer.
"Soccer is the most popular sport in the world," said Joey Bilotta, vice president of EduKick, Inc (http://www.edukick.com). "It's something people can share no matter where they come from. A yellow card is the same whether you're speaking English or Chinese or Italian."
In EduKick's academic year-long soccer exchange program, students are given the chance to play their favorite game overseas with other students from around the world. They can improve their skills by training daily under professional coaches and even, in special cases; get the chance to try out for professional European clubs.
These soccer exchange boarding school students also forge new relationships with people from different countries and backgrounds. It can broaden student-players' horizons and daily technical soccer training gives them a better chance to be competitive on an international level.

People have formed lifelong friendships because of soccer, which then enabled them to work together for a common cause, despite other differences.
The chairman of a football club in Britain befriended the members of an Australian cricket team when he drove them around the country during a tour. Because of that friendship, they were able to organize a charity soccer game in early 2007 that benefited an Australian breast cancer charity.
"The most meaningful element of our international soccer exchange boarding schools are the relationships made," Bilotta said. "Young soccer players share a common love for the game. Our soccer exchange boarding school students are willing and eager to learn about players from different cultures who are also in love with the sport of soccer."
