Top Ten New Urban Communities List Targets Women as Key Change Agents for a Green, Local Economy

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) September 3, 2008 -- The 2008 Top Ten New Urban Communities List (http://newurbanmom.com/neighborhoods/top-ten-new-urban-communities-fall-2008/) is a unique list just released by the website New Urban Mom (http://www.newurbanmom.com). The list reflects the decisions and perspectives of everyday women who support the eco-friendly philosophy of new urbanism. Communities selected are ones that contribute to the development of safe and sustainable neighborhoods for children, working adults, seniors and the environment.

Among the communities highlighted in the list is the Randolph Neighborhood in Richmond, Virginia. This redevelopment project is part of the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority's efforts to offer homeownership opportunities to low and moderate income families and first -time homebuyers. Such outreach helps to make urban neighborhoods more prosperous and sustainable.

Other communities in the list offer beautiful housing choices in more suburban areas like Town Commons in Howell, Michigan and Baldwin Park in Orlando, Florida. These exquisite communities are designed to support high density living, while respecting consumer preferences for comfortable, stylish homes, eco-friendly travel systems (public transit) and local alternatives for shopping and work.

With today's high fuel costs and ecological sensitivities, urban, suburban and rural dwellers want to work closer to home or at home. They want access to places in their neighborhood where they can meet others and build community in safe and attractive environments. Our cities and towns are coming alive once again and new urbanism is helping that to happen.

New Urban Mom is a website created to reach the change makers in the new urbanism movement - the women and mothers influencing decisions about where families live. The site's publisher, Sharon McMillan, is available for interviews. For more information please contact Sharon McMillan at (905) 472-5384 or email newurbanite @ gmail.com.
