GoodbyeSteveIrwin.com Formed to Help Fans Share Condolences

Stillwater, Oklahoma (PRWEB) September 9, 2006 -- In the wake of the death of the much-loved conservationist and environmentalist Steve Irwin, millions of people have been moved to pay their respects to the Irwin family.

Unfortunately, the deluge of web traffic to the Irwin websites, (http://www.CrocodileHunter.com and http://www.australiazoo.com.au/australia_zoo/) have brought both websites down completely.

The "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin passed away, after a freak diving encounter with a stingray on the Great Barrier Reef in North Queensland, Australia. Irwin was struck in the chest by the stingray's tail, piercing his heart. Irwin died almost immediately.

Since the Irwin websites are down, many media companies have made resources available to help mourners pass on their condolences to the family and friends of Steve Irwin. The bbc.co.uk website has made a section of their forums available to mourners.

Bill Platt of Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA and owner of http://thePhantomWriters.com realized that people would not be able to reach the Irwin websites for several more days. So he registered and set up http://www.GoodbyeSteveIrwin.com within hours of hearing the bad news. Bill said that he and his family felt the pain of Irwin's death and wanted to share their condolences with the Irwin family. And they knew that others would feel the same way. So, Bill set up a website to exclusively serve the needs of the desires of Irwin's fans to post their condolences to the Irwin family.
