“Pause and Play Getaway” Offers Women a Relaxing Weekend Based on New Stress-Reduction Research

(PRWEB) March 24, 2005 -- Recent research that shows differences in how women and men deal with stress is one key motivator for a new event designed to allow women a chance to relax and recharge, reflect and connect.

The Coaching Alliance is hosting a weekend event of fun and friendship for women called the Pause and Play Getaway at the Coeur dAlene Resort, Coeur d Alene, Idaho, April 22-25, 2005. Designed by a diverse group of life coaches, the event will provide opportunities for personal and professional development, stress-relief, rest, fun and connection with other women.

The event is based in part on research that explored gender differences in coping with stress. UCLA researcher Shelley Taylor found that women tend to react to stress in a tend and befriend manner, as opposed to the conventional fight or flight theory. Instead of escaping a situation or becoming aggressive, women often cope by searching for social interactionusually with other women. Yet when life becomes challenging, many women cant find the time for such interaction. Enter the Pause and Plan Getaway.

When womens lives get stressful, they often struggle to incorporate friends and social interaction into their daily routines, said Deanna Davis, Ph.D, one of the events organizers. But research shows that women need this interaction to effectively manage stress and to lead a fulfilling, healthy life. Lynn Colwell, another collaborator in the event, adds And contrary to popular belief fun is not a four letter word. This weekend offers a careful balance of fun, learning, and a much-needed break for women to refresh and renew their lives.

The weekends activities will include a mix of workshops and playshops, as well as relaxing and socializing through events such as a chocolate and champagne reception and a pajama and pampering party in the resorts penthouse suite. Some seminar topics include: Enjoy the Journey: Rediscovering Joy and Passion In Your Life, Create!, Procrastination Busters, Living with Intention: Creating the Life You Want, Financial Fun and Fitness, and ten other choices to accommodate a wide range of interests.

The cost for the weekend Pause and Play getaway starts at $325, including room and most meals. By popular request, a Saturday-only option has been added for a registration fee of $99, which includes both breakfast and dinner.
